I'm so grateful that I could spend a few days in Dover, UK again, 10-15 July. It would be too long to share all my experiences, but I try to tell you a little bit about our visit, illustrated with a few of my favorite pictures.
Nagyon hálás vagyok, hogy néhány napot idén is a délkelet-angliai Doverben tölthettem július 10-15 között. Hosszú lenne minden élményt leírni, de azért nagy vonalakban elmesélem, hogyan telt az ottlétünk, néhány kedvenc képem kíséretében.
Dover
We arrived late at night on Wednesday, so the program really started on Thursday, when we helped with a local cummunity event for seniors, called Golden Years. In the afternoon we walked on the seafront.
Szerdán késő este érkeztünk, így a program igazából csütörtökön indult, amikor segítettünk a helyi idősek számára szervezett Golden Years (Arany Évek) nevű közösségi alkalmon. A délután hátralévő részében a doveri strandon sétálgattunk.
Dover Castle
We spent almost the entire day in Dover Castle on Saturday, because it is so huge that one day is not enough to see everything. Fortunately one of our local friends is quite knowledgeable about history so he gave us a little guide and we learned a lot about the history of the fortress from the Middle Ages through the world wars to nowadays. We had the chance to visit the underground hospital where they treated injured people during World War II. It was very exciting because they've preserved the authentic conditions of the place with the original furnishing and equipments. They used light and sound effects as if we were in war situation with bombs falling on the town.
Szinte az egész szombatot a Doveri Várban töltöttük, hiszen akkora, hogy egy nap nem is elég az egészet bejárni. Szerencsére az egyik helyi barátunk járatos a történelemben, így egy kis idegenvezetést tartott nekünk, és közben sok érdekességet megtudhattunk az erődítmény történetéről a középkortól kezdve, a világháborúkon át napjainkig. Lehetőségünk volt végigmenni a földalatti kórházon is, ahol a második világháború alatt látták el a sérülteket. Nagyon izgalmas volt, mert megőrizték az eredeti berendezéseket és eszközöket, emellett pedig olyan fény- és hanghatásokat alkalmaztak a túra alatt, mintha a háborús körülmények között lennénk, és éppen bombáznák a várost.
Ramsgate
We went to the nearby Ramsgate on Friday. In the morning we saw a few sights ( St. Augustine Church, Sailor's Church, Viking Ship Hugin), in the afternoon we walked in the city centre and spent some time on the seaside. Ramsgate has a sandy beach so we kicked off our shoes and dipped our feet in the cool water. Finally we had dinner at the Royal Victoria Pavilion - Wetherspoon.
Pénteken a közeli Ramsgate-be utaztunk, ahol délelőtt ellátogattunk néhány nevezetességhez (Szent Ágoston templom, Tengerész templom, Hungin viking hajó), délután pedig a kis sétálóutcában nézelődtünk, és a tengerparton időztünk. Itt homokos strand található, ezért - és mivel elég meleg is volt- ledobtuk a cipőinket, és mezítláb élveztük a vizet. Végül a Royal Victoria Pavilion - Wetherspoon étteremben vacsoráztunk.
We attended the church service in The Ark on Sunday morning, then walked on the new Dover Peer and had dinner at Aspendos.
Vasárnap a The Ark istentiszteletén vettünk részt, délután az új, doveri mólón sétáltunk, este pedig az Aspendos-ban vacsoráztunk.
On the last day, Monday, we stopped in Canterbury for a few hours on the way to the airport to look around and shop. I did not take photos there, but if you are interested, you can check it out in my posts from last year and the year before.
Az utolsó nap, hétfőn a repülőtér felé útba ejtettük Canterbury-t is, ahol volt még néhány óránk nézelődni és vásárolni. Ott most nem készítettem fotókat, de a tavalyi és tavalyelőtti bejegyzéseimben meg tudjátok nézni, ha érdekel titeket.
